Today Is the Day! Louder Than the Lies Is Out!!
Woot! Huzzah! You're invited to my book launch events!
Today Is the Day!
My book Louder Than the Lies: Asian American Identity, Solidarity, and Self-Love comes out today!!
To celebrate this milestone, I perused my archive of the 4+ years it took to get this book done and made this little video. Indulge me if you will.
Inspired by a post by disability activist and author Tiffany Yu, whose The Anti-Ableist Manifesto was published just a few weeks ago, I went searching for some dates in recent history:
On June 29, 2020, a literary agent reached out asking if I’d ever thought about writing a book.
On October 28, 2022, a publisher reached out asking about the book I was writing.
On February 6, 2023, I accepted an offer for a book deal.
On May 24, 2023, I finished writing the first draft of the book.
On May 22, 2024 the final version was ready for the printer.
Today on October 22, 2024, 4 years 3 months and 24 days since this project first started, my book is coming out into the world!

Oh What A Night!
Last Thursday, I had my first launch event at On Waverly, an Asian American bookstore and gift shop in San Francisco Chinatown (also dubbed “the cutest store I have ever seen” by my friend Elizabeth). I had the pleasure of being in conversation with Curtis Chinn, the host of the InfatuAsian Podcast, answering some audience Q&A, and signing books. A huge thanks to the crowd of people who showed up to celebrate! It was such a delightful, special night.

Also, I designed a limited edition calligraphy print for everyone who purchased a book from On Waverly. There are still a few available with book purchase at the store so get your book order in before they run out. And if you pre-ordered and picked up your book from On Waverly before the event, please contact the store to get your free print.
Here’s a video I made of the evening: (All photos by Anna Wu.)
Podcast Interviews
Here are the ones that have been released so far:
Brazn Azn Ep 15: Getting LOUD with Anti-racist Educator Ellie Yang Camp (October 16, 2024)
The InfatuAsian Podcast Ep 145 Ellie Yang Camp - Author of Louder Than the Lies (October 9, 2024)
As more interviews are released, you can go here to find them.
Help By Leaving A Review
Please consider leaving a review (positive I hope haha) for the book on Amazon, Goodreads, or StoryGraph. Reviews early on really help the book gain some momentum. The review doesn’t even have to be long, just a “Good book” or “I liked it” or “This book changed my life I will never be the same again everyone should read this book right now” are all perfectly fine! :)
A huge thanks.
Well folks, I can hardly believe this day has come. I don’t know if I have actively anticipated a specific date in my life for as long as I have anticipated this one. (My wedding and kids were only 9 month waits!) It’s been quite the rollercoaster ride - the agony and the ecstasy LOL. Thank you for all the support along the way and no matter what happens with the book from now on, I’m really proud of what I put into it.

Happy Pub Day Ellie! Your book is going to be so thought-provoking and inspiring for all readers, but especially Asian Americans who are looking to better understand and have deeper conversations and community engagement around the subject of race and what it means to be Asian American in this country. I am so happy that "Louder Than the Lies" is now officially out in the world. Congratulations!
